Being a Business Community Association for the north part of the Northern Beaches, there are a wide variety of needs that have to be catered for and in the circumstances of our location.  All business in our Chamber benefit in some way from the mix of initiatives across industries, size of the enterprises and markets that makes the Chamber support multi-disciplinary.   Your Chamber showcase commences at sole trader and SME levels for the majority of our current Members, while the goal is building a resilient and stronger business environment through our Chamber leadership and support.

All businesses 'sell' and some businesses 'service' other businesses, so there is always interaction and promotions with similarities across all businesses in the goods and services market.  Many of our valuable members operate essentially retail outlets in town centres, intermodal hubs, online stores, in warehouses or as mobile trade services where the resources for these business can be similar right up to an enterprise level.  Chamber support is delivering for our  members in having easily accessible resources for knowledge and guidance, along with strong advocating with largely resistant stakeholders (Government) to build structural amenities to sustain markets.

The Pandemic showed that 'Big Business' is expanding leveraged off the superior resources from equity funds available to listed business, then to a degree encroaching on our traditional retail markets with direct home deliveries, on-line channels for their market growth strategies and cost reductions.  It is critical for the Chamber to achieve a number of initiatives to fortify and perhaps reverse the easy option of big business to try to move in on small business markets.

The key initiatives include:

  • networking with other 'Local' businesses to outline the needs and wants, the situation of disparate businesses and markets and what owners are doing.
  • collaboration from well established profitable businesses - mentoring, guiding and sponsoring SME's to grow to resilient positions regardless of the collaboration from cross-industry disciplines. A fresh ideas approach!
  • upskilling current dedicated workers and with availability of digital applications that streamline the business you are carry on.
  • having advertising and marketing channels available that can be leveraged to promote SME's in the Local Community
  • adopting increasing digital capability to transform businesses to autonomous back-ends to allow owners to more productively interface with Customers, that focuses on efficiency and solutions in building revenues.

SME's cannot increase the Local Economy alone or without broad based structural developments to build markets and have the resources to leverage off for growth generally.  A growing impost for business generally is that Government has become consumed with Government-as-a-Business with unbounded public funding that is not its role given that Government is not showing that it respects Small Business beyond the rhetoric.  This is further damaging and reducing the Small Business sector that must change with stakeholders genuinely proving meaningful support and resources for all business communities.

Our Chamber business community is an existing economic region and for here and now that is being ignored with disproportionately funding for Western Sydney that is a massively public funded marketspace of the future as an example, that our region is entitled to equitable support!   All stakeholders of which Small Business is one of the essential parties adds an important dimension to an areas' growth potential as a major contributor to the economic foundation for a region. The Northern Beaches region needs cross-support from Government stakeholders for these structural developments in addition to meaningful support as actual local procurements and Big Business collaborations to develop mentoring, business models and interdependencies.

  • Stakeholder meaningful support -
    • Financial models to reduce regulations and charges.
    • Incentivise business improvement
    • Create and fund projects to deliver structural amenities needed to enhance local business activity
    • Building market demand initiatives with broad based programs including high volume visitors and goods sourcing to the region
    • Upgraded amenities for place improvement for business not just for Government-as-a-Business
    • Encourage new or revitalised industries to attract custom and clients
    • Support smart manufacturing that drives skills development, talent retention and entrepreneurial opportunity
    • Creating new regions capability and identities with provision for growth centres from new in-fill and greenfield development
    • Sponsor Small Business as the best facilitator with real resources for new employment opportunities and capability skills
    • Create specialist capability centres across our region for high tech industries and include logistics hubs and environmental economic innovation.
    • Government to support a targeted supply line onto new developments and markets in Western Sydney Growth Centres that is available but in need of drivers and facilities

To achieve many of these objectives, the members will be used to deliver portions and contribute their skills and connections to generously strengthen our Chamber and our region for economic growth and resilience of all members businesses.

The plans and initiatives of the Chamber Executive and Members is heading into new territory for smart and resilient business for the future.    The pandemic has clearly shown that nothing remains the same and we must be prepared for shocks along the way.  The Chamber needs to lead the initiatives for innovation, new business models and digital transformations for Local developments with a global outlook!

The Chamber is in multi-disciplined modes to better respond to the needs of Local Business that fully compliment each other.  It is a new level of Member support through collaboration and structural developments for markets.  It is envisioned that to support all levels of Small Business, differentiated channels can be supported so all businesses gain a benefit or multiple benefits from the commitment and improvements they consider making.

Our approach necessarily has a two track direction to cater for new and scalable businesses and existing business so no one is left out.

  • One channel is mixing up the traditional approach with a high level of activity and with digital transformation to make a difference usually for scalable businesses and broader market servicing.
  • The traditional approach for businesses that want to remain in their comfort zone but leverage off the support of your Local Chamber however we can provide, that potentially will want to step up or improve their processes or business model when they are comfortable to do that.

This level of support is designed to create an identity for Business in our Local area where all our efforts is for leadership, innovation, competitive advantage, transformation to digital world and all directed for the benefit of Members.  Everyone is welcome to join in equally!

This outline is our goals statement and foundation of FutureNB planning for the resources you need or want.  Communications is also the key to the benefits so please send your feedback on support needs, initiatives  or contributions and intelligence of what is happening in our Local area that will help address all issues in as integrated way as can be achieved.

These targeted outcomes are a joint effort from all members who are willing to make contribution through contributing ideas and connections, bringing any new members that will help progress our goals.  Please go to the Member feedback page on our website and leave your contributions.
