Northern Beaches PALYA SHELL – ‘hello’ / greetings
Pittwater as an ideallic part of Greater Sydney is largely overlooked, including for Community Protected OPEN SPACE assets that are functional, spatial and freely available. The exceptional opportunity for Pittwater around a meeting place of waters ‘Coraki’ with natural environmental amenity and community spirit urgently requires a ‘Place’ for creativity and skill development including for music, art and entertainment for social inclusion.
This petition is to be the means to validate Community requests to establish a set of common distributed Place facilities as innovation and as functional assets as a centre for Community activity where none appropriately exist. Open spaces alone, while they are environmentally welcome, are NOT ideally functional, easily usable nor appropriate for activities many groups in our Community need for participation and engagement.
Covid and its restrictions has identified the need to be prepared for a future that throws disruptions and forces changes to how our Community participate in Community that a ‘Palya’ Shell will offer as essential Community Places for all seasons and conditions. Health Orders are allowing various activities particularly outdoors, however there are many in our Community who are still locked out of their activities, pastimes, associations, businesses and Community welfare because no appropriate spaces are available in our important region on the Northern Beaches.
Pittwater is an equally deserving region of NSW, that has demonstrated an important role for Community and Business that lacks expanded ‘Place’ resources to lead initiatives for invaluable benefit to the State.
Our call on Stakeholder Governments is to design and fund appropriate protected OPEN facilities as multi-functional and expandable from 200 to 2,000 people. The envisioned facilities will be a safe, well-lit area, ideally as renewable off-grid (battery supported solar powered), substantially glass enclosed and covered, well ventilated, outdoor see-through spaces for indoor comfort for our free Community use in early 2022.
We urge you to URGENTLY provide such functional Place facilities within our green spaces in Winnererremy Bay, Narrabeen Lakes and Palm Beach. A low cost Place facility can be designed and established quickly that our representatives are requested to deliver without delay.
